What is the cost of ITIL Foundation e-learning?

E-learning is the quickest, most affordable way to an ITIL® certification. ILX offers a Foundation e-learning pack, it includes an exam simulator - this includes sample ITIL® exam questions, additional study material and full tutorial support throughout. A foundation exam voucher can be purchased separately and must be used during the training licence period.

What is the cost of ITIL Foundation classroom training?

ITIL Foundation courses are usually 3 days long. ILX offer a 3 day ITIL® Foundation course which will lead to the foundation qualification and enables you to understand the key concepts and terminology in the newly updated ITIL® framework. What is an ITIL qualification?

ITIL (IT Infrastructure Library) certificates are designed as IT service Management qualifications. They are designed so that individuals become familiar with the optimum practice for IT service Management – as defined in the IT Infrastructure Library guidelines.

What does having an ITIL certification mean?

To have an ITIL Foundation certification the individual should be aware of techniques, processes and functions in the core ITIL publications of service strategy, design, transition, operation and continual improvement. The individual should be able to relate the knowledge learnt into wider IT issues and own work environment.

How do I get recognised in ITIL?

To be recognised in ITIL you need to have achieved certification by taking an ITIL examination. There are various levels to ITIL certification, the level you achieve is dependent on your future career aspirations and current career level.

Why do I need an ITIL qualification?

People often consider an ITIL qualification for personal development reasons and for their career. Quite often to get on to the top of the CV pile, you need to have an extra qualification like ITIL (even if involved in service management for many years without it). In many advertised application an ITIL qualification is essential.

Many companies also encourage employees to take the exams, so you are then able to present your company as using ITIL . This works well if supplying large IT organisations or external companies.

What does ITIL compromise of?

ITIL consists of a five book library:

  • Continual Service Improvement – Guidance on how to consistently monitor your portfolio of services to ensure they are as good as they can be and still of value to your clients.
  • Service Transition – Guidance on moving from the previous state to the new state and implementing these services.
  • Service Operation – Guidance on day to day management of your services.
  • Service Strategy – Guidance on defining types of levels of service that you want to provide to your user and customers.
  • Service Design – Guidance on how to shape the way in which your service strategy will become a reality.

What languages are the ITIL manuals in?

Foundation examinations are available in English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, German, Chinese, Japanese and Russian. The Practitioner examinations are English only. The Service Manager exams are available in English, German and Russian.

If I take an ITIL Foundation in another language do I still have to learn the ITIL terms in English?

Yes. In the examinations you will find the English as well as the translated terms. The ITIL terms can be found in the exam requirements.

What happens if I fail an exam?

If you fail an examination, you will be able to participate in another examination session (there is no limit to the number of times you retake the examination) – subject to a resit fee which doesn't necessarily need to be at the same examination centre. Exam pass rates are much higher for individuals who have sat an accredited training course.
