Well prepared for exam

The content of the course gave really good context of the important information required to pass the foundations exam. The simulation exams were bang on. I was scoring in 90's for each randomly generated test and I scored 90% on the certificate exam. There is no interaction with the mobile app, but was a good supplement to listen to while walking/driving to reiterate the lesson.

All in all, I was able to ace the certification with about 3-4 weeks of effort.

How to optimise technology for hybrid workforces

Asana’s Anatomy of Work 2021 study has revealed that workers switch between 10 apps 25 times a day on average – we feel stressed even thinking about it! But this is the stark reality for a workforce desperately trying to stay connected through ‘living with the pandemic’ and the challenges of hybrid working.

However, tool overload results in the opposite effect. Rather than helping to optimise connections, it is fragmenting communications. The vast array of technology most workplaces use on a daily basis is quite harmful. Tool overload is reducing efficiencies, leading to distributed work, missed deadlines, and damaging team alignment.

So, what can we do to overcome this? Is it as simple as streamlining our apps? Or is there more we can do to optimise workplace technology and align our hybrid teams? Here we investigate.

Let data do the talking

We rely on data a lot across business, so why not for optimising workplace technology too?! Data can reveal which tools and apps are most frequently used by the majority of workers and give insight into where you can streamline. Drilling down into the hours per day spent on an app, tasks performed and even the outcomes or results from each, can be used as a key measure of productivity.

Importantly, looking into app usage data will also flag any unused and under optimised tools. From here you can make the call whether to do away with them, or look into why certain software is not working for your staff – perhaps they don’t recognise its value, or maybe further product training is required.

Unify experience

Our professional landscape has undergone a revolution. The transformation to remote working was rapid, and we’ve encountered endless change ever since. Many business leaders reacted by introducing new technology in an attempt to keep teams connected and as one whilst physically apart.

Now that we can see the wood from the trees, we can reflect with a clearer view of what is and is not working and shoot to scale back. Now is the time to unite. Streamlining to fewer apps that are more commonly and universally used will work to unite employees. Utilising the same handful of tools amongst all employees unifies how we experience the work, tasks and the company as a whole.

One tool for all

Okay, so the reality is that there is never going to be one tool that does it all. But, if you can find a platform that integrates several of your most-used tools, then take that as a win! Having a ‘hub’ which connects your technology together will help to simplify employee workflows by keeping everything centralised.

Don't be afraid to trial new technology to find a platform that works for you. Evaluate your tech stack first, then look for a tool which consolidates most of those you have chosen to use going forward. Streamlining multiple products into one central platform can greatly improve productivity as it minimises tool overload.

You don’t have to have all the answers

As an IT leader it is imperative that you scale down technology in order to align your hybrid workforce. However, you don’t have to show up with all the answers for how to achieve this. Talk to your staff and you will find that they can help to shape your technology stack. Gain insight by allowing your hybrid workforce to voice their opinions and preferences.

Optimising technology will prepare your workplace for the future while improving engagement, motivation, and productivity. You must deploy tech that seamlessly supports all types of working, and fully integrates into your company culture.
